Oliver Ellsworth autographed Document
(1745-1807) Chief Justice and drafter of the US Constitution. This item is an original handwritten document by Ellsworth, dated May 19th, 1777 and signed O. Ellsworth, awarding Captain Martin Kirtland five hundred pounds for recruiting his own company in the Colonel William Douglas Battalion. This is a nice Revolutionary War piece! Kirtland, a Saybrook, Connecticut native, was a captain in the Sixth Regiment Continental Army. It comes with an unsigned 8x10 b/w photo of Ellsworth.
