William IV autographed Document

(1765-1937) King of Great Britain and Ireland (1830–1837). Son of George III and brother of George IV, he ascended to the throne after a long naval career. Leaving no direct heir, he was succeeded by his niece Victoria. This item is a military document, measuring 12x15.5 inches, dated March 7, 1837, promoting Colonel Alexander Duncan to the rank of Major General in the East Indies. It is signed boldly by King William the Fourth and Secretary of War Baron Glenelg (1778-1866). King William died of a heart attack three months after he signed this document. It is in very good condition with horizontal folds, several minor stains and one small pin hole. It is printed on vellum with wonderful ink stamps and wax seals, still fully intact. The signatures are large and legible.
