John D. Sloat autographed Note or Letter
(1781-1867) Commodore in the United States Navy who, in 1846, claimed California for the United States. He served under Commodore Steven Decatur during the War of 1812 and later fought in the Mexican War. This item is a handwritten signed note, dated May 30th, 1849.
