Carlos Romulo autographed Note or Letter

(1899-1985) Philippine General, Diplomat and Political Figure. He served as Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs (1949-51) and twice served as Ambassador to the United Nations (1952-53, 1955-62). From 1962-68 he simultaneously served as the President of the University of the Philippines and as Philippine Education Secretary. He then served as Foreign Minister under President Macapagal (1963-64) and President Marcos (1968-84). The author of 18 books, including several autobiographies, he is the first Asian to win a Pulitzer Prize (1942). His awards include 82 honorary University degrees and 74 decorations including the U.N. Peace Medal, the World Peace Award, the Four Freedoms Award and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded him by Reagan in 1984. He had a special U.N. Award named for him and was nominated for the Nobel Prize for supporting freedom from colonization in Africa and Asia. This item is a typed, signed letter on the letterhead of the 'Embassy of The Philippines', dated August 28, 1958. The letter has age wear and was once folded.
