(1868-1944) Editor. He worked for various newspapers in Kansas before purchasing the Emporia Gazette in 1895. White edited this small-town newspaper for the next forty-nine years.White published several books, including an account of leading politicians, Masks in a Pageant (1928) and biography of Calvin Coolidge, A Puritan in Babylon (1933). His memoirs, The Autobiography of William Allen White, that was published after his death, won the Pulitzer Prize. This item is a signed 5x7 b/w portrait dated Oct 1921.
