(1830–1893) U.S. Representative, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, U.S. Senator from Maine and a two-time United States Secretary of State. He also ran for President of the United States, obtaining the 1884 Republican nomination, but never won the Presidency, losing to Grover Cleveland. This item is a vintage signed hand written letter that has been professionally double matted with a b/w portrait. The overall size is 11x14 and was assembled using all acid free materials. There is some minor yellowing to the signed page and two light folds from the original mailing.
