(1899-1986) Govenor of New Hampshire, Congressman & 'Assistant President' under Eisenhower. Considered the 'power behind the throne' in the Eisenhower Administration until he was forced to resign for having accepted gifts from a Massachusetts industrialist. This item is a signed typed letter on White House stationary that also says 'The Assistant To The President.' The letter reads as follows 'The President has asked me to thank you for your friendly letter and for your expression of confidence in his leadership. It was certainly thoughtful of you to suggest that he would enjoy a visit to your state of Texas. I am glad to convey the President’s best wishes to you.' The page measures 6X9 and dated 1957.
