(1916-96) THE FATHER OF 'TALK RADIO'. Radio Personality and Disc Jockey. Held interviews with many influential people such as Malcolm X. This item is a signed typed letter Feb. 7, 1948 on WOR Stationery written to Walter Winchell before a bitter feud. When Gray was first starting out Winchell had supported his career and had even taken him on his famed late night rides with Daymon Runyon through the streets of New York, looking for stories and action. Signed 'Barry'. At the top Winchell has written a file notation 'G' and has instructed his secretary Rose Bigham 'Congrats Dear Barry' and then has drawn a line to a notation he has written below 'I wish I could wake up' which he has then crossed out. He has also circled Gray’s name beneath his signature
