James Farley autograph
(1888-1976) Postmaster General under FDR (1933-40) and his Campaign Manager in 1932 and 1936. One of the most powerful men in the politics of his day, Farley was Chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 1933-40, and is considered one of the greatest political operatives. He hope to succeed FDR and broke with the President over the issue of the third term and unsuccessfully challenged him for the 1940 Democratic Nomination. Farley later served as the longtime Chairman of the Board of the Coca Cola Export Corporation. This item is a typed and hand signed letter, measuring 9x11", dated Jan. 17, 1973 on Coca-Cola Stationery, consisting of 16 lines, much about the bad winter weather "...I thoroughly agree with what you had to say about President Truman. He was a great American and a truly great President..."
