(1825-1893) Confederate army officer who was appointed a special commissioner to Russia on behalf of the South. After the war, he served as a US Senator, Secretary of the Interior and finally, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. This item has a clipped signature that has been attached to a sheet of Supreme Court stationary that bears a quote from a poem of Wordsworth. It has been matted with a small b/w portrait. The overall size is 8.5x11.
