American showman and founder of the 'Barnum and Bailey Circus' and creator of the expression, 'There's a sucker born every minute'. This item is a 3 x 1.75 card, signed in ink and dated in his hand May 1880. This piece came from the private collection of Constance Holmes, ceramics artist and heir to the famous Holmes Book Store of Oakland, CA which recently closed after being in business for 101 years. Superb display item and ideal for matting. RARE!
