(1862-1965) This All-American football player from Yale became a legendary football, baseball, basketball, and track coach at the University of Chicago. At the age of 81, he ws named Coach of the Year. He invented such plays as the double reverse and the end-around, and also the tackling dummy. He is in the Basketball and Football Halls of Fame. This item is a hand written, signed letter that says 'Dear Young Man- Many thanks for your good wishes for the Chicago football team. Sincerely, Amos Alonzo Stagg'. This paper has two even folds probably from the original mailing of the letter.
